A spot of teaching.

Post by Rhul »

It is midmorning, and some of the occupants of the House are beginning to stir for the day. Upon entering the great room, Rhul can bee seen hard at work. The table in front of him is filled with pots of various herbs, and a large bucket of soil, which given the weather outside, was evidently brought in preemtively to thaw.

He wears a long sleeveless robe in the place of his customary armor, and a young girl is virtually dwarfed at his side, aiding him in transplanting some of the herbs to larger pots, as well as giving a new home to some of the transplants brought from the recent trip to the Caldonia interior.

........"Now very gently cover the roots...yes that's right", he says, nodding down in approval to the girl. "Skowron needs to be placed an inch or so below the soil. You don't want it too deep or it has to work too hard to break the surface to reach the sunlight. Now if you'll please hand me those scissors, I'll show you how to make a cutting from the main plant so I can work on building our available stock of Paprikat".

The paled woman emerges from one of the locked rooms carrying a wooden tray. A white cloth drapes over the tray, covering its contents.

She quietly glides into the great room, quietly making her way from one end, to the other. Before she exits into the kitchen, she stops. Momentarially forgetting her current task, she stands still and silent observing the exchange between Rhul and the young girl.

Rhul glances up and sees Kami's look. He gives her a wink.

"Well hello, Kami. I trust you're doing well? I thought I'd get some work done before everyone woke up. All the greenery must have caught the eye of Jenna here, and whe wanted to know what I was doing, so I've been showing her some of the finer points of growing."

The woman remains silent. She does not acknowledge that anyone is speaking to her directly. She moves a few steps closer to the plants and watches.

Rhul quirks an eyebrow questioningly at Kami's action, but goes back to working with the plants, speaking while he works.

"By all means, milady, feel free to speak if something is on your mind. Although, if you're comfortable staying silent, I'm quite sure I can talk enough for the both of us."

With that, he sends Jenna away with a thank you and express orders to find a group to play with outside. He then glances back at Kami and then points to several pots filled with ivy.

"You might find these interesting. I found them while we journeyed deeper into Caldonia to speak with the dwarves. Some sort of wintergreen creeper....I don't know the proper name, as I haven't seem them outside of Caldonia proper, but once it's acclimated itself, it will bloom some quite attractive tiny pink flowers. They're what drew me to it in the first place against the snow.

Hopefully, it will continue to do the same while inside. It will also be interesting to see if it has any alchemical properties as well, though I'm not the one to look to for that, I only help grow them. It's quite possible they are merely meant to be pretty."

He begins to place the new pots back near the window to capture the sunlight beginning to stream in.

*Walks over with the usual equipment in hand.*

Kami or Rhul if one of you guys don't mind could you inform Abaddon that unless he, Esmerelda, or Mohdri for that matter need me I'm taking off back to the north for a bit.

Since that group left for Haven things appear to be quiet that I'd at least like to get one more trip up there for a bit while there is still some snow on the ground.

As Rhul speaks, she continues to stand there silently. When Rhul directs her, she moves her attention towards the wintergreen plant. She continues to look upon it as though perhaps she was expecting it to move, or perhaps all the answers in the world were contained with in that flower pot.

When Aurora enters the room and begins speaking, the woman turns to see, but then directs her attention to the ground and back to her own shoes, or rather the tray she had been holding and had forgotten.

*Aurora watches Kami*

Kami, you want to check to see if Abaddon is around I can take that try wherever it was meant to go to. You know I don't mind at all helping you out when I'm around.

-Error, Read as if from Rhul-

Oh, I'd assume one of us will bump into him at some time or another, I have do doubt. As for Esmerelda, I'm sure I'll see her in due course as well, when she wishes to leave to talk to the remnants of Woodhold.

Make sure you keep yourself safe during your travel.

*Aurora looks at Rhul (I'm assmuing it's Rhul)*

Don't worry Rhul I'll be just fine. Once I get to where I need to go I'm well protected. Things just seem quiet right now and I guess I have round-aboutly through teaching inherited Mohdri's wonder-lust.

What can I say I'm going a bit stir crazy at the moment and I know of someone who could use my talents elsewhere.

She keeps her head hung low and exits the great room in the direction of the kitchen area.

There is the sound of the outside door opening and closing before the Queen of Briars enters the room. Today she seems to be dressed in a toga, smiling and humming to herself, her black tail swishing back and forth.

She leans on the doorframe.

Rhul is wiping some of the dirt off his hands when he sees "the Queen" enter, and he looks at her after glancing at Kami leaving the room.

"Yes, well.....hello there. And how are you doing this morning?

I was just conversing over a bit of horticulture with Kami, myself. Although it seems she prefers listening over, well... anything else. But I can see that her heart's in it, and that's the important part."

The Queen of Briars smiles at Rhul after being greeted. "I'm not an early riser, as a rule." She walks into the room. "But it is a pleasant morning for me, and I hope yours finds you well."

"Was she here?" The Queen of Briars looks around the room for Kami. "She seems to have this amazing ability to come and go. And she is so quiet!"

"Culture is a word I know, but I am not familiar with these 'Horti' people you mention." She inclines her head. "My apologies for being unable to contribute fully to the discussion, although I would be pleased to learn more about them from the two of you, as to not be taken unawares."

"She is quiet, at that", he says nodding.

He chuckles at the mention of horti-'culture", though not in condesention.

Oh, milady, in no way do I describe a culture, but rather a hobby. But sometimes my vocabulary can get ahead of me. Horticulture simply describes the process of growing and tending to plants, although in my sometimes overly complicated way.
