loaded x-bows

But you will have a hard time having multiple loaded bows next to you, while you could have half-a-dozen loaded x-bows sitting next to you, with you positioned in a trench, in a tree, or behind a shield wall of your fellows. Then you get off shots much faster than a bow.

x-bows

The other thing that is being neglected with the x-bows here is that there is a huge advantage to being able to carry around a loaded weapon. You Can get off one or two shots with light x-bows and then drop them for melee and never have to worry about loading a weapon. With a bow it is much harder t...

More tales for Garret Maevers

Please good adventurers, share the wonders of your recent trials with the people of this town. The peasants are dying for a good tale to keep them through the winter.

Resist Effect

Just and FYI for the players. The resist has been talked about, and is still being talked about, by the marshalls for the past two events. There is a general consensus that it is too powerful and we are working on alternate ways to fix it. A couple of them include requiring a quest material componen...

The growing list ... :)

Keep them coming. I went over aaron's first list yesterday and put together some more detailed materials. As for forges/labs etc. You need a forge to make weapons/armor and I am all for needing a lab to make 3rd and 4th level potions. In addition, we are talking about some benefits to research/casti...

hide vs. cloth

I think hide can be used for clothing, esp at the common and savage levels, though I am not sure about at the wealthy, though you could make the argument for suede. Mostly we have been envisioning hide as the resource for light armor to this point, but if you were short on cloth you could certainly ...

resources

Agreed completely on the resources. We hear you loud and clear and are working to make the resources a well managed part of the system. We think this is one of the major parts of the system, and will be working to integrate it smoothly with the rest of the material. Congratulations on the completion...

Change is in the air...

Winter Approaches…. And the ground begins to crunch with morning frost. A wet wind blows from the west, carrying with it traces of snow, and the thick scent of blood. Strange disappearances mark the lives of many families in the homesteads surrounding Haven. The trees stir with the passing of myste...

Countering Spells and Secrecy

I think the point about secrecy is a good one, what we have to decide is whether or not the arcane casting in the first place would notice someone tampering with his magic... Is countering a matter of disrupting the caster's magic or a matter of constructing a shield that deflects the spell after it...

The Weather

The summer has been hot and long, slowly sliding towards fall, though even with second harvest just getting underway the leaves have yet to begin changing and the grape vines on Miller's Hill have yet to be touched with frost (which helps make the most exceptional winter white wines). Wolves are how...

countering spells

I don't mind the witch hunter having the ability to negate or counter spells, I just don't think it should be an instant thing. The witch hunter shouldn't be able to see a distant arcane and point-cancel a spell that takes half an hour to cast. On the other hand I could see a witch hunter or opposin...

too strange

<Cal> You know, I wish there were some more soldiers around now. I mean, the militia is nice an all, but at least with soldiers around you could have someone kill off nutters like that one. I still think its possessed. Well maybe I can find a triad of Caveliers in the next fortnight or so to take ca...

A good harvest

<Dar Barleyman> You know Cal, I just think this may turn out to be a good harvest. We haven't had too many bandits around, and the scarecrows have been keeping most of the rodents out of the fields. We just might have enough food after the second harvest comes in to get everyone through the winter, ...
