Moving the number to the end of the call doesn't really solve anything. The call still has a number, thus no change in the whole parry thing. It's not doing any damage so it's still an exception compared to other calls, even more so now because the number comes after the call. It might help by letti...

Another option is to allow the assassin to simply call vorpal knokout. This way parry cannot be used as there is no number OR we can add to parry that you cannot parry knockout. Just knockout would be enough since a call with no number surges. Maybe we should change how knockout works entirely... Y...

Here's another possibility that doesn't require the vorpal by the way. A warrior is attacked and beaten to the point that their armor and combat reflexes are gone. A rogue walks up and hits them with a 3 knockout. Same situation here, since the warrior currently doesn't have any armor... just figure...

The way I have always played parry is, if is a frontal mellee attack, it can be parried. Simple. And it can be read the Parry counters KO, period. It drops all in coming damage to zero and also cancels out KO, Posion, Crush effects, etc.. It is all in how you want to read into the wording of the sk...

I agree with you completely about making a char for role play and not for the rules Ark but without solid rules it can take away from the roleplaying. If people have to stop to ask how something works it's not only an inconvenience but it breaks the scene. That's why discussing rules between events ...

The problem with a call of 3 vorpal poison ko 3 would be most people would hear that and think they take 3 vorpal poison knockout and then 3 damage. A number in a call makes people think it's the begining of a new call, if you change that then what would players use to determine the begining of a ne...

And now here's an example where two GMs disagree. I knew you wouldn't have to wait long to find one of those  Todd (and Josh) is right that that is how it is being played, taken from CR first, but I'm almost positive that that was not the intention of it. Well I hope my post helped by exposing...
