Takitaki 2010 News and Events - June 5th 2010

To begin, we’d like to thank all of you who made the Takitaki 2010 Yard Sale such an amazing success! The combined efforts of the donors, shoppers and volunteers allowed us to meet and then exceed our “goal number” for the sale, and we had a great time doing it. Huge thanks go out to Mandi Garvey, Jenn Race, B.J. Dudley, Jamie Way, Toni Way, Amy Barrett-Deater and Jenn Eitniear for all of their hard work and great attitudes. Thanks to all of you, it truly was a FUNdraiser!
On the subject of FUNdraisers, tickets for the June 26th Waxies show at Quinn and Tuite’s are now available. They’re only $7.00 and you can get them from Quinn and Tuite’s or at Takitaki HQ. Please join us for a night of music and help David win on August 3rd!
Over the past week David has been making appearances all over Muskegon, and it’s clear that more and more people are Thinking Big! In the past few days David has spoken with voters at an event for Drain Commissioner Candidate Kevin Gue, remembered our fallen heroes at the Lost Boaters Ceremony at the U.S.S. Silversides, supplied picketing Red Cross nurses with bottled water and support, joined Kurt Troutman for a presentation to MCC college students, attended two meetings with the community and Scandia concerning Wind Power.
In addition, David had the pleasure of appearing at the first Party in the Park of the year with longtime friend Seamus Kennedy. Seamus declared his support for David’s campaign on multiple occasions throughout the evening, but the highlight of the night came when an equipment malfunction lead to Seamus, David and Takitaki 2010 Graphic Designer Art Dreese performing an unplugged rendition of “The Irish Rover” to the delight of the assembled crowd. Many thanks to Seamus for his continued friendship and a great night of entertainment!
Also, be sure to check out the Muskegon Tribune this week to see the article David wrote about the Words Out Loud Poets Society (WOLPS). WOLPS is a fantastic organization that brings out the very best of Muskegon’s talent and creativity through spoken word poetry, so be sure to peruse the article and look for more WOLPS events this August.
In the past few weeks the Takitaki 2010 campaign has totally changed the race for the 92nd District. David’s candidacy has given the voters the chance to choose a young, eloquent, passionate voice to speak for them in Lansing. No other candidate has David’s combination of intellect, education, integrity and talent, and the people are beginning to realize who David is and what his candidacy means for Muskegon. During a recent neighborhood walk, one volunteer was amazed to find that six or seven houses in a row would all know who David is and be excited about his campaign. David’s reputation as a brilliant Television host and force for good in the community precedes him wherever we go, and that’s why we need your help.
We have a unique candidate and a unique opportunity before us. We can send David to Lansing if we can get the word out to voters and get enough people to the polls on August 3rd. To do this, we need you to spread the word to your friends and neighbors. We need you to contact us and join us for a neighborhood walk. We need you to call up 20 of your friends and host a house party. We need you to make a $25.00 donation to David’s campaign. We need you to Think Big! on August 3rd and vote in the Primary election. We need you to believe and get involved, because if you do, David will win on August 3rd and Michigan will win when he goes to Lansing.
Donations can be made via Paypal on David’s website at http://www.davidtakitaki.com/ or by check made out to “The Friends of David Takitaki” and sent to P.O. Box 1301, Muskegon, MI. 49443.
If you can join us for a neighborhood walk or host a house party, contact Takitaki HQ at 231-747-7988 or e-mail the campaign at admin@davidtakitaki.com.
Thanks,
-The Friends of David Takitaki
