Shale looks over at Donmayo as he's walking past, "Yeah, I was worried about that too. I was thinking of volonteering to walk with Annika home. To protect her, and maybe when I get home if something has gone wrong I can try to pull your asses out of the etherial plane. Or, better yet, we send one person through. If they make it, we open another pair of portals back here and tell the others it's clear, so we can reopen the circle back for everyone else without risking everyone's life at once.."

*Walking back to the group after talking with Annika*

The agreement with Eli and Ug is they would setup a recieving circle at high noon for a hour each day until we returned. Now I was thinking they would only being do that for a couple days, not weeks, but I trust them that they are still doing so.
It does not matter to me if a small group or everybody goes into the circle since the results should be the same. I will leave the final descion to Lord Corybn.

But the arcane that cast the spell must walk the rest of the way home. So I suggest 3 people of our group stays behind to help the arcane and Annika back to haven.

Donmayo, how certian are you that the arcane who cast the cicles can walk through them? It wsa my understanding an arcane has to be on either side to make the portal work properly and they can not enter. We alway can as Ug and Eli when we get back to town.

*Lifts her head up from whispering to Kels and looks over at the rest of the group.*

Allow me to clarify what I mean.

What I suggest, no recommend is that we come up with a proposal on what to do about this situation and then talk to Lord Corbyn. The scouting party after the sending circle is up, the team to escort Anika and the caster back to Haven, basically all that we are discussing for he might have his own ideas on the matter.

He may decide he wants to go through the portal himself and if that is the case then a small group should go with him.

He may or may not alter anything, but it would be nice to give him a solid idea and then.....

*Kidwynn appears a little dizzy as if she is about to loose her balance, before quickly recovering and proceeds with the conversation as if nothing happened.*

...and then we put the finalized plan into motion.

Is that clearer now?

Thank you Don-mayo and Arthos for raising such mechanics issues. Circle casting is beyond my skills and I was not aware that the caster might need to walk back. If so, I agree that he or she will need escorts, but for now we should proceed with sending a small party through to have Eli and Ug answer this question. Thank you Neshca for volunteering, I appreciate the gravity with which you hold your oaths, but I would have you stay near to Robin, for the moment at least. In order to decide who best to walk back if it comes to that, my question is this. Who among us here is capable of casting sending circles?

Annika, you said your path may someday lead to Haven. Do you see yourself heading straight there? If so, I am willing to discuss escorts should you desire company. It will be a simple matter if our caster and companions must walk there anyway. If not, I would like to see all the Havenites return via portal.

"I wish to let it be known that I am one who can create a sending circle. I hope I have also proven that I am a capable fighter. That said, if needs be, I wish to be one of those who stay behind. Though I will follow what Corbyn and Annika wish, if it isn't to be me who is a escort."

The concept of tearing the fabric of Phantara thrice in rapid succession at the same location is alarming.

To clarify the procedure, I hope those going to Haven will not attempt a return until the following day. Then perhaps we might travel for yet another day before engaging in a third set of circles.

*Shortly after Arthos and Drake approach her, the three of them get drawn into the discussion about how to get home. Carefully listening to everyone's opinions and after looking slowly around the whole group at each of the members, Annika finally speaks up in a very meek voice:"

"I have, indeed, made this trip twice on my own, both in and out of Frostfell. If any of you recall in having first met me when I approached Haven, I had also been traveling on my own for over six moons. I have no fear of this trip and it may in fact be just what I need. I am not trying to dissuade any of you from accompanying me, if it is your will, but please do not feel that you are obligated to protect me. Your role is finished and you owe me nothing more..." *Annika addresses the group with sincerity and smiles graciously to each, her eyes landing finally on Donovan.* "There is little more that I can say or do to show you how I feel towards you, except continue to be here to help and support you, and make sure that you get safely home."

*Annika looks again at the rest of the group.*

"That being said, I have an idea. Allow me to open the portal home to Haven for you. I have no intentions of taking the portal, but perhaps learning the magic and casting it for the first time to help you all will be the embrace of my new Path that is necessary for me to begin healing and living again. If we must test, we shall test. Please give my suggestion full weight of consideration..."

*Annika looks around and waits for a response.*

*Still not appearing all to well, but is doing her best to hide it.*

Annika, from my understanding of things luv, this portal spell is pretty powerful stuff.

Have you learned enough magical energies to be able to handle such a task?

I'm not going to knock your determination, for actually I admire things like that, but what I'm asking is that you think realistically and judge your own abilities in such a matter.

Maybe you, Revinal, and Arthos or something need to discuss such a thing and then you might be able to answer that question I proposed to you better.

*Donovan meets Annika's gaze when she speaks to the group, and gives the slightest of nods when her eyes finally land on him.*

"She is strong enough, both for the portal and for the journey. Annika, do us the favor of casting the sending circle."

*His tone changes, now clearly giving orders.*

"Shale, cast a receiving circle a little distance away from where Annika casts the sending circle. I am going through the portal, and should I arrive safely in Haven, I will have either Ug or Eli cast a sending circle and return through it to the rest of you."

"Phoenix Guard, members of the Order, protect the rest of the Havenites. Should I not return, Claude will assume command with Shale and Kels as his Captains."

*He drops the tone of command and addresses the rest of the group.*

"I can not order the rest of you to remain, but it is foolish to risk more than is necessary. I am going through the circle."

*Donovan nods once again to Annika, hesitating for a moment before extending his nod into a full bow.*

"When you are ready, milady."

*If Annika does indeed open a circle, Donovan steps through without another word.*

*When Donovan asks Annika to open the portal, she nods. She then watches the rest of the scene with interest and once everyone is prepared she asks someone (she'll approach Midnight and Corbyn first) to allow her to use their spellbook to cast. If it is suggested to wait until a certain time (for Ug or Eli), Annika will wait until then to cast the circle. She will make certain that Shale is ready and near her when she begins casting. If anyone voices concern or objection over her ability to cast, she will assure them that she is quite capable, if she puts her mind to it.*

*Clearly nervous, but resolute, Annika begins casting the circle at the designated time. When Donovan is prepared to step through, she gives him a gentle nod and says:* "Good Luck to you, Good Sir Thynedar..." *Her words seem hopeful and sad in parting. Donovan and anyone else that insists on going through with him, will now step through the portal.*

*Once they have stepped through, Annika will return to the separate campsite that she set up, stare into the fire made for her by Drake and wait for someone to return.*

((If your character insists on being in the first test group through, please post that you step through and roleplay accordingly in the thread in "The Inn."))

*Kidwynn wonders over to where Kels has laid out everything and looks at him. She appears to be listening to him and begins to put away her shortswords.*

Thank... Guess there is no fool...

*She looks at him again as if trying to serch for the words and then overhears Donovan's commands, afterwords the progress Kels had made to get her to rest stops and she appears to be searching for a second, fifth, or tenth wind. That icy yet determined look appears once more in her gaze.*

I'm fine Kels. Donovan needs us keep an eye on things. Right now we are all needed. You worry...

*She attempts to ease his mind with a grin as she gets her shortswords back on the ready, but remains physically not as well as she normally appears.*

*When Annika asks for her spellbook, Midnight looks puzzled*

Cast with the assistance of paper and pen, I do not. From within, my magic comes. Provide his help, perhaps Lord Corbyn can?

*Midnight settles down to wait with Don Mayo until someone comes back safely through Shale's receiving circle before preparing to leave.*
