"Your reputation precedes you. Your uncle is truly a good man. We are luck to have your services."
"Esmerlda, soon the keep's walls will be complete and you can move the encampment inside it's protective walls. Ingram and myself have gone to great lengths to ensure everyone's continued safety. This place is not haven. This place is not as safe as Haven once was. "

Esmerelda laughs bitterly at Abbadon's words.
"And even Haven was not as safe as we thought it was. No, I never thought this would be another Hvaen, good sir. It will just be nice to have a roof over our heads at night to help keep the cold and wind at bay. "
A cold bitter look enters her eyes that ages her much beyond her 22 years. "As for monsters, Corbyn proved that they can walk in any form. I wouldn't be surprised if there are already some walking amongst us now, plotting the downfall of us all rather than deciding to work towards the common good."
Sighing, she gives him a tired smile. "But we really do appreciate the effort you have gone to on our behalf. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. You have been more than gracious in what you've done."

"indeed. The monsters roam freely. We will need to be vigilant to ensure that the corbyns of the world are not allowed to flower. They must be culled from the herd, and brought to face justice.
Until then, we can only try to seperate power so that no one person can bring the downfall of this new home.
I myself am here, because I have no other place. I seek the home of the Valkyn'vi, and until I find it, I have decided to protect this place. So, should you need anything, please come and seek me out." Abbadon says.

"Monsters that walk in a friendly guise are the most abhorrent. I think we also need to learn to trust each other more. There were so many who did not trust Corbyn yet all worked independantly to little avail. If everyone had shared their doubts and worked together, he never would have gotten to the point that he did..."

"Certainly. It is these dark days when trust is most needed. But trust is earned. If I am told, many of the haveners trusted Corbyn. Perhaps that is why those who were not swayed had to walk in the darkness. It is worth nearly any sacrifice to make sure it does not and can not happen again."

"I do not believe we have met properly. I have only recently obtained my position here. Your uncle Modri of course is a legend. I am helping Ingram with his gate. I have also set about warding his keep. I am a scholar of magic, and the mystic. I have offered my services to Lord Galen, and it is in this regard that I provide assistance."

"Those who worked against Corbyn did not have the luxury of working in view of others."
*Ingram approaches the assembled group, rolls of blueprints under his arm.*
"If we had divulged even a hint of our intentions to the 'leaders'," Ingram says that word with obvious disdain, "of Haven we'd have been turned over to Corbyn for slaughter before we could blink. Sen and I were tortured repeatedly, humiliated, and nearly sentenced to death for crimes we did not commit for trying to save Haven from itself. Trust is important for us to continue rebuilding, and I may eventually be able to forgive those that handed Corbyn victory on a platter, but I doubt I will ever forget not only what the survivors of Haven did to me, but also what they made me do."
*waves his hand dismissively*
"But enough of that. I came to tell you all that the building is structurally sound enough for people to begin moving inside. I'll have some of the workers help you with your belongings."
*Ingram turns to walk away but stops and holds out a letter to Abaddon*
"I almost forgot. Could you bring this to Winter Haven? It's the coordinates for the gate here. I assume they'll need it."
*After handing the letter to Abaddon, Ingram turns and walks toward the nearly completed building.*

*Atrum laughs heartily as he moves thropugh the survivors ranks, the first time anyone has heard him laugh since they left Haven.*
If the leaders were so horrible you'd be dead, everything pointed to the fact that you should be executed. Something though did not feel right about the whole thing, so that was not the decision. And people tend not to trust those that listen at doors and windows to their conversations. Trust is indeed something that is EARNED, not given freely. Maybe one day people will realilze that.
Blame whoever you wish for what happened to you or what you chose to do. But in the end every person is responsible for their own actions, and remember that THAT is the ONLY thing that saved your life. The sooner that you learn that each person must accept their own failures and learn from them the closer you'll be to being a leader. A title means nothing without the fortitude and wisdom that should go along with it.

"Excuse me Lord Atrum. While I was not at the massacre, I wonder, was it your preparations that allowed the survivors to escape? What did you do to secure the the most powerful weapon against Corbyn? Those that followed Ingram's advise live. Did not Remnil polo and Ingram infact save your life? Did his preparation not give you a safe an secure place to hide from the elves?
It was ingram and those who follow him who secured this bell, this bell that corbyn fears so. What did you do against Corbyn? Other than get in the way that is?"

I have been prepared for treachery since the first moon I came to Haven. And no, it was NOT anyones preparations other than my own that allowed myself and a few others to escape. Believe as you will, but treachery has always been a part of the danger of Haven. I had hoped that would change over time, but it will always be there, the source changes, but the threat remains.
I admit that my mistake was having hope that Corbyn was being truthful in his efforts to solidify Haven. You explain how I am supposed to help with something I was not privy to? Explain to me how not divulging any of the information that may have swayed me to look at Corbyn in a different light helped any of the villagers and citizens of Haven that died that night? So self righteous when it comes to accusing others, yet never looking at your own actions, that is not the way a true leader behaves. Atleast not a virtuous and just one, only a dictator.
Alot of good people died that night, because a few people took it upon themselves to keep critical information to themselves. Lying to the people that they publicly said they supported to lead the Haven in both Donovan and myself, while all the while whining constantly about information not flowing in a manner they thought it should and secretly plotting away.
I submit that arrogance and ambition got in the way of defense of the Haven, that the belief that only those few could do what was needed. Well those people failed. Failed just as miserably as anyone else involved. Yes Corbyn may fear that bell, it was rung that night, so where is Corbyn's corpse then? If we could have worked together even then perhaps we could have atleast done that, but no, still the belief was that only those few could do what needed to be done. Whether you want to believe it or not that is the truth of the matter.

"Lord Atrum,
I think we both know what say is not true. You and sethereal were saved by ingram's men . Whether you wish to admit this or not, well, that is your own burden to bare.
Who was it that got most of the people in FH to safety? it was ingram. Who was it that gave Corbyn a powerful maqgical ring on the eve of his win? It was you and Donovan. You are equally responcible for Corbyn's win. You did not see the evidence when it was presented. You persecuted the only people moving against him, You allowed him to win. You gave him what he needed. You were the regent. It was your job to protect haven and you failed. Leadership is accepting responsibilities for one's failures. It is my only hope that you can not achieve the kind of power here, that will allow you endanger anyone else ever again.
I think we both know that information on corbyn was shared and ignored. So Ingram's men decided to do what they must. The Bell removed the dragon from corbyn. Ingram's men died to discover that. They died to save you people, and they died trying to protect haven. "

Foolishness and arrogance abound, as I said, believe as you wish, but those that were with me that night know that Ingrams hole in the ground certainly did not save us. We ran across the others while looking to find survivors and take them to safety, the safety we left.
As I've already said, I accept my failures and mistakes. Apparently that is not a quality found amongst your group. *He smiles* I had not realized that you all were infallible. I wonder why everyone hasn't seen that all along as clearly as you do.
And for your information, outsider, the ONLY reason I even had that power in the first place is because I didn't want it to fall into Corbyn's hands in the FIRST place. None, even the great and infallible Ingram stood up to Roderick when he was walking through Haven as if it were already a part of his kingdom. If it weren't for that fact Haven would have been handed over to Corbyn a very long time ago. Those were in fact Roderick's plans for Haven.
And STILL you are blind to the fact that the fracturing of the Haven is what doomed it! Foolishness and arrogance...
