Hero Points

Post by Aurora »

Ok I'm going to ask a really silly question but I couldn't find the answer...

How do we all gain hero points again?

My brain is malfunctioning and I'm starting to forget stuff.

Currently: only plots and some mysterious leveling which is left unexplained.

At least until "The character advancement supplement" is written for us to see.

Personally, the leveling form should be the same across all chapters to avoid issues of players moving across chapters and having an unfair advantage.

Ok that's vague as all get out. So what you're saying is that it hasn't been determined as of late so both chapters can get on the same page?

So then they took the level based Hero points out of the rule book? what I mean is in the last rulebook you gained 1 Hero point at 30th level and then 1 every 10 levels after, is that gone now?

Also I don't know about other people but I really do not like the new time reduction of Hero points.. way too much math to try and think about in the middle of a tense situation?

Something I have been talking about to other people and maybe we can do something about it even though no more rule changes are being implemented is.. why not just let a Hero point reduce the time of a skill by 5 Minutes flat? That allows a greater diversity of skills to be done immediately and heroically.. Of course I understand this may be something that can be done when the Mysterious Advancement rules come out.. but for now I think it would add a huge advantage to characters in the game.. specifically Healers and Sages.

I also just recently found two new 'super secret' ways to gain hero points.

1: Go on a 'treasure quest' that involves five miles of hiking.

2. Stay after the event and help GM's clean up cave debris.

Hero points time reduction was changed to stop 1 shot instant kills. Maybe a simple chart needs to be made so no thinking needs to be done

The method to get hero points will be released in the advanded rule book.

I'm not sure when it is going to be released, but I'm hopeing before the FH event.

If you have a hero point, you should know ahead of time how much it reduces each skill. Aka, you have advanced empath, therefore you can reduce a 5 boom to 4 seconds and a 10 boom to 8 seconds. No math involved. (btw, the 5 minute reduction would be bad since the 1 minute was already overpowered)

5 second skill = 2 seconds
10 second skill = 4 seconds
15 second skill = 6 seconds
20 second skill = 9 seconds
30 second skill = 12 seconds
60 second skill = 24 seconds (1 minute to 24 secs)
120 second skill = 48 seconds (2 minute to 48 secs)
240 second skill = 96 seconds (4 minute to 1 min 36 secs)
300 second skill = 120 seconds (5 minute to 2 mins)
480 second skill = 192 seconds (8 minute to 3 min 12 secs)
600 second skill = 240 seconds (10 minute to 4 mins)

I was wondering why the level based hero point scale didn't make it into the book...

Is it planned that all level based hero points will no longer be single use then? This should probably go into the core book next year (since it'd be this way by default) versus the advancement one.

One - there's no way I'm going to memorize a chart like that.

Two - Anything permanent yet stackable is a route to godhood. If there's no upper limit to the number of hero points a character can have, and hero points never go away, then this is one such route.

OMG- please not more charts. Seriously. Aaron, I love you and Reid, but you two are the only ones on the face of this earth who can memorize something like that. It's unwieldy and unnecesary. For the love of pants... FH used to be about LESS rules.

Though... that philosophy seems to have jumped down the flusher in the off season.

I'm with Doug. Seriously, guys... this is getting silly complicated.

You don't need to memorize the chart, just the skills you use. Say Vaun is an empath, arcane (coincdentally the one that has to deal with this the most). You need the 10, 20, 30, 60 second ones. Then the arcane spells all are generally in large minutes so not really a big deal. (For both it's really just move the decimal over one and multiply by 4 which should be easy enough for all).

And I don't think Chris meant that Hero Points never go away like that. We'll have to wait though.

new question.

When you reduce the time via Multiple hero points, do you use the original time, or the new recalculated time?

Original means you can get to zero. New recalculated time means you approach zero, but can not reach it.
