Going off the premise of the Interrogator knowing the mind .. how about a Resist Taunt at 2nd level..

Your Magic cannot save you,
Nothing can save you!

The truth of the matter:
Interrogators know the minds of others. They gain the ability to detect several things. They may determine if the subject is Disguised, via the skill or magic, or if they have been Implanted. They spend a life point, and the target indicates whether they are disguised or implanted. It does not reveal who is under the disguise, or the nature of the implantation.

Hmm.. not bad. Do we have a 'Resist Taunt' currently?

Detect Disguise? I like the concept but, it requires OOG comunication, so Im currently against it.

There isn't a resist taunt only an immunty, Druid 4th with Fear and interrogation and Cheiftan 4th which is the same as druid but adds torture.

Doesn't 'Spot' detect disguises?

There is no way to 'Detect disguise' although feild rulings have been used to allow 'spot' to detect poorly done NPC disguises in the past.

Disguise was not supposed to be detectble because of the chance of metagaming.
If Matt is playing Shale, and Shale disappears, and another dark elf played by Matt walks into town it must be Shale so Im going to use spot to check that its a disguise, which requires walking over, with your hand on your head, and saying 'Spot, are you wearing a disguise?'. We had the same problems with 'Detect Lie'. I ask a question from across the room, then walk over with my hand over my head to see if it was accurate or not. Great skills, just not easily to do subtly.
Too disruptive.

With detect magic you have to physically inspect the item, alowing you the close contact to say 'Detect magic' with a limited amount of disruption.

Resist taunt is probably too low for a level 2 considering the actual skill is a level 1...

Still haven't thought of a skill for this position that really fits with the "interrogator". I like resist poison and it could be word smithed to fit well enough. It's a bit high for 2nd level but it's fairly rare to get hit with too.
My posts in no way reflect that of anyone else nor are they in any way official.

what about

Rile them up:
At lvl 2 the interrogator may spend 5 seconds activating a taunt. If he is struck with a taunt, he may resist it by spending a life point.

Taunt is a lvl skill, and resist taunt is sqishy value.....add them together? now you are good and bad cop.

Sen, I like that. Reading someone and being able to piss them off and knowing your own mind well enough to resist being pissed off seems to fit interrogator better than the other suggestions.

So does this have a better feel to it?

lvl 1; Inescapable Bonds
lvl 2; Taunt/Resist Taunt
lvl 3; Interogate
lvl 4; Plant Suggestion

I dont think it looks bad at all, but I dont want to do this again next year. ;) Lets make sure we have the right solution.

Idea

Post by General Maximus »

Here is an idea for a 2nd level skill

Master of Wispers - the person has a network of spies and informants that provide useful information. Inbetween events the person can find out a PC's background (aka character history) or find the background of a NPC. You still can use the research skill and this skill in between events.

That seems much more like a 'spy' skill to me, but not outside the realm of possibility.

I still like the taunt angle.

I like Taunt/resist taunt the best.
