At the portal:

As Egon makes his way around the corner on his way to the portal, he spys Simon, Shale, and the Lady making their way towards him not terribly far down the path. Waving at them he approaches.

“Simon! I had heard that you had arrived. I apologize for being so tardy in coming to meet you. Things have been a bit busy around here.”

Walking up, Egon clasps Simon’s hand in greeting. “How have you been? Is your hand healed?”
