Ortonville Larp this Summer

Post by Gondowon T. Falbor »

Hello everyone, Gondowon / Alex Lind here.

At the moment, I'm trying to get a summer Larp going, similar to the old Spring Haven game if anyone recalls that. Like Spring Haven, players under 18 would be allowed and encouraged to join since it would let them get a Larp experience in before they're old enough to join an official Larp (on their own that is).

In any case, the Larp would take place in Ortonville and each event would last one day from 10 AM to 10 pm (subject to change depending on demand). At the moment we're not sure if levels will transfer over, but we are in the middle of discussing the prospect with the GMs.

More than anything, I'm just looking to see who would be interested and / or who knows someone who would be interested. We're looking for brand new players and veterans alike. Any interest at all will help to show us that this is something that can happen and people want to have happen. If you know people in the area who'd be interested or people who would be willing to drive out to a one-day event, spread the word to them as well, and thank you in advance for helping get word out there.

The best I have for you right now is a maybe.

I have a 15 year old that's on the fence about LARPing. It would also depend on if it's a weekend she's with me or her dad. Also, with distance we would probably need to find Friday and Saturday night lodging.

So.. maybe.

I have a 13 year old son and would be willing top assist in running events in whatever capacity you wished. Participation would simply depend on dates.

Alright, good to hear there is some interest. The first date I'm trying to get something going would be Saturday the 21st of May. It would be amazing to get some help with NPCing, but if that day doesn't work for you, I understand. I'll PM you once I think of specific ways you can help.

Sorry for the delayed response. The location would be at Jack's House and My House (they're across the street from each other and we're using both yards). The address is 325 Windridge Lane, Ortonville MI, 48462. Right now the plan is to start check-in at 10 am with Game-On at 12 Noon, a game break at 4 pm, then finally we're probably going to end at 10, unless everyone really REALLY wants to keep going.

The first event is going to be free for all new players (including everyone who attends this first event), but after the first event, there will be an entrance fee of $10. We're going to have some incentives for returning players and for bringing new players too, however.

Good to hear you might be participating in later events, Mahto! I'll PM you about this at some point.

Reminder and final notes that I've failed to include up until now.

The event will be taking place Saturday May 21st, with Check-In starting at 10 AM, Game-On at 12 PM, and the end of the event at 10 PM that evening.

The address is available by PMing Gondowon T. Falbor

Currently, we have a $10 entrance fee for players. However, since this is the first event and therefore everyone coming to participate would be first time players of the chapter, this event will be free of charge. Some food and snacks will be provided for $1 a plate, or $5 for unlimited food for the day. The meal will be spaghetti with pasta sauce and will include a gluten-free recipe for any individual(s) with an intolerance.

Weapons are somewhat limited, so for this event we will rent out weapon phys-reps for $2 per phys-rep.

or...leave the address since its yours and your are allowed to do what you want with it; and the chances anyone would find the address here...and uses it for anything aside from showing up t the event is smaller than actually meeting Superman in real life...

good thing we do not promote irrational internet fears on this forum right?
