Takitaki 2010 News and Events - June 20th 2010

Post by GM-Taki »

What an amazing week!

It feels like the Takitaki 2010 campaign has been all over the map in the past several days, and everywhere we go we're overwhelmed with the support David is receiving from the people of the 92nd District. Not only are people Thinking Big, but more and more voters are elated to hear that someone who isn't about "politics as usual" is ready to represent them in the Michigan House of Representatives.

A big part of David's vision is connecting with the people of the 92nd District, and we're proud to announce that to date our efforts have reached close to 5,000 members of our community. We're actively trying to engage people from all backgrounds to make sure we can hear the voice of Muskegon loud and clear. One voter couldn't hide her amazement after talking with David and said to our staff: "This has been the first time that I've ever had a candidate ask me what I think and actually listen to what I have to say. He's got my vote!"

Just this week David filmed a spot for the Muskegon Community College candidate forum, attended the Glenside neighborhood association meeting, sat in on a community alternative energy presentation in North Muskegon and reached thousands of voters on the phone and in-person. Two of the most exciting events happened this past weekend, when the Takitaki 2010 campaign marched in the Muskegon Heights Festival Parade and descended upon Muskegon's Rockstock Music Festival.

The Muskegon Heights Festival Parade was an incredible experience for all of us, and David would like to thank Adam Nelson, Mike Borgerding, Shaun Postlewait, Sean Rust, Samyrah Ried, Amy Deater, Amanda Lee, Dan Aull, Charles Kortman and Nate Cereska for their help in making the event a huge success. Also, thanks to Brendan, Kandice, Nora and Skye for waving the flag like true patriots! Photographs of the event are available online on David's Facebook page and we'll have the video from the parade up in the next few days.

Later that same day, David and Takitaki 2010 go-to guy Mike Borgerding attended Muskegon's Rockstock festival. In addition to having a big presence in the crowd, David got some attention from the stage as well. Muskegon bands "Dead Silent Orchestra" and "Virgina Gray" both gave David shout-outs from the main stage and encouraged everyone to Think Big! and vote Takitaki on August 3rd. Justin Brady, lead singer of Virgina Gray, told the crowd that David is "not just another stuffed shirt in it for themselves. He's one of us, he supports us, and he's working for us."

Going to places other candidates won't go and connecting with people who are all too often forgotten is what David's campaign is all about. Thinking Big means making sure everyone has a seat at the table and remembering that our government needs to work for all of us. Michigan needs a leader that can go toe-to-toe with the best minds and speakers in politics in the morning and still be able to speak plainly to regular folks in the afternoon. David is that leader, and if we can let enough voters in the 92nd district know who he is and what he's about he'll win this election.

Remember that we've got the Waxies FUNdraiser coming up this weekend at Quinn and Tuite's in Grand Rapids. The show starts at 9:00pm, so be sure to get there early and get a seat for a great night!

We're at a pivotal point in this campaign. Signs are popping up around the community, political ads are showing up in the newspaper, on the radio and on T.V., and all of these things cost money. Some of David's opponents have deep pockets and think that by outspending us they can buy this election, but we're out to prove them wrong. By donating $5, $10, $20 or more to www.davidtakitaki.com you can help spread David's message and take a stand for our community. You can also be David's voice by volunteering, telling your friends and posting or reposting notes and videos so more and more people start Thinking Big!

They say that to change things you need the right man, the right moment and the conviction to follow through. We have the right man, this is the right moment... the rest is up to us. Let's all Think Big and elect David Takitaki!

Thanks!
