Allegiance Question

Post by Nelkie »

Ok, I have a question. What are the rules on how much Allegiance a person has to use to support a guild/house/person between events.

Example: Common Human that comes into an event at level 16 with 16 Allegiance points. The human survives the event and becomes a level 20 character. Now it is inbetween event time and the Human wishes to support a guild. How many allegiance points do they have to use? Do they only have 16 points becasue that is how many they had coming in the event, or do they have 20 becuase the human advanced to level 20.

Just looking for a clarification.
Basicly does a person have allegianc epoints equal to their current level or
Does a person have allegiance points equal to their level - (1 session or 4 levels)
My Thoughts

Aaron,
I bow to the authority of others on MOST rule matters , but since my character really only has in-between event abilities...I consider myself versed in them. My understanding is that leveling occurs at the end of the session(ie you enetred 16th, and left 20th, your abilities at the end of the event are 20th). It should be effective at the end of the event. Therefore, when calculating allegiance you would do it at the new level.

At least that's how it works for sage (you research at the new level)

So, is that across the board? Skills only apply the event after you gained the level?

When did that change Chris? On our checkouts we've always been told that at the end of the event our characters gained the 4 levels of that event.

well this was the point of voting

Voting should be done at the end of an event so you should use the points you walked in with. The reason? If you were not at the event you are not voting. Right now the system is alot more lienient but next year will crack down with a feather duster

Character advancment is done between events and thus you get to recompute your character during this time. this way errors can be corrected by the GM's

That's what I explained to him yesterday Erik and he mentioned that it's now this new thing he is saying.

I'm confused, but that's nothing new.

Hmm well it isnt new it has been happening all along it didnt matter what you guys told us your allegience was we simply double checked it and used previous numbers.

So even if it was not commincated we always used the right numbers.

Oh and um Julie it isnt some new thang as Aaron said we have been doing it for a year and a half.

Dont worry though we hope to have all these confusing things fixed in the off season.

so, just for clarification

Voting occurs at the end of the event, with the points you had going in?

Wayne for the sake of clarity and my sanity can you add checkout and downtime to your list. Cause gains levels and advances to level x+4 is what I think is in question here.

Character comes to the event at level X
Character survives the event (If the character dies, start over )
Character awards allegiance*
Event Ends
Downtime Begins
character advances (Character is now level X+4)
character buys skills with new points
Repeat

* Think of it this way, the act of a character awarding allegience is the last action they perform at an event regardless of when the player actually submits the allegiance to the GMs

Example: Chris comes to the event. He plays BoBo a 20th level Common-Human-Sage-Monk. BoBo, more through luck than skill, survives the event. At the end of the event, he wants to check out and leave. Chris doesn't know who to give his allegiance to because Aaron hasn't told him yet. So the GMs, in their infanite mercy, allow Chris/Aaron some time to make up his mind and submit his allegience later. In theory, BoBo has already bent the knee to a guild head or will do so in the next few days (while level 20). Chris had a great time at the event and got BoBo involved in a journey that will take place between events. When the group sets out between events, BoBo is level 24 and can use/buy skills appropriate to his level.
