Coersion (Torture)

Post by Dallid »

Just a thought, but perhaps inflicting damage on the victim could yield quicker or better results. Makes sense that the more intense the 'Coersion' session, the more the Interogator/Healer would get out of it.

Say after every minute of Coersion, the Interogator can inflict one point of damage. For each point of damage inflicted, one minute is subtracted off the remaining time.

So an Interrogator-Healer could Coerse information from a victim in five minutes normally. But say he's particularly brutal. After the first minute, he inflicts one point of damage. Now instead of four minutes to go, the session only takes three more minutes. After the next minute, he inflicts another point. Now instead of two minutes to go, there's only one. At the end of the next minute, the victim confesses and falls asleep. Thus the Interrogator-Healer can inflict a maximum of two points of damage to reduce the interrogation time from five to three minutes.

Similarly, an Interrogator or a Healer could, by inflicting a maximum of four points of damage, reduce the interrogation time from ten to six minutes.

Alternatively, choosing a brutally intense form of 'Coersion' could yeild two answers or commands instead of one. As the end of the interrogation session, a Healer-Interrogator could choose to inflict five points of damage to ask an additional question or implant an additional command. Someone who's just a Healer or an Interrogator would have to inflick 10 points of damage to achieve the same results. Needless to say, the victim would have to be extremely robust to survive such extreme torture.

I think the time reduction makes sense, but what about having the more brutal coersion lead to more than a yes/no answer to a question instead of yes/no answers to two questions? For example, the torturee would be required to tell all he/she knows about a topic. Regardless, I would like to keep it kept quite simple, with as few permutations as possible.

I think it should just be left as is. The inquisitor is more of a brutal torturer in most cases, while the healer is more of a gentle coerser in most cases.

Obviously this can be different.

Tell that to the Inquisition.

NOBODY EXPECTS THE INQUISITION!!!

Hey, if someone threatens me with intimidation, they won't get much out of me. Someone threatens me with thumbscrews, and I'll betray my God, my country, and my mother. :P

Chris where in the hell did you get that fact, you made it up didn't you! Yeah I'd have to say that someone coercing me with words will yield much slower, probably no results, but faced with intense pain and torture beans would spill faster than Colin could smash em' REHE!

But for the system I'd say keep it as is just for simplicities sake.

Erik - don't make me get all psycho-analytical on you. 'Cause I have the skills, and I'm not afraid to use them.

Got my eyebrows waxed and I screamed like a woman, I don't even want to consider other areas.
