Shield Class

The shield's come in light, medium, & heavy, and take various damage depending on which class of shield you use. Does this raise armor class by the shield's class or is it just for purposes of how much damage it takes?

The class of shield is an indicator of it's construction, and thereby how much punishment it can take. Hide is light, wood is medium, and steel is heavy. Carrying any shield ups your overall armor catagory by +1 level (IE. none counts as light, medium armor counts as heavy) for the purpose of using skills regardless of its own strength catagory.
