Shields - Disarm and Shatter

If any part of your character including equipment and shields is hit with a disarm, you must throw any weapon you are currently carrying at least two feet to the right or left of your body.

P:15 Shatter
"These attacks destroy swords and armor"

As such these effects should NOT work on shields as per current wording. Right?

That is correct. It is dangerous to ask people to discard shields in combat.
