Proposed Rule Changes 2/21

Da Chef Conversation notes:

Warrior -
Rage moved to level 3
Endurance is now +1 minute to bleed to death
Berserk is removed as a skill
(*possible) +5 max life to a shield (ie 10pt shield becomes 15)

Monk -
(*possible) remove Stun and replace with Deflect Arrow (ie 1 life to counter a ranged vorpal call)
Monk abilities limited to medium armor (not new)

Swashbuckler -
Taunt is now you must attack target if you have a weapon, otherwise you run as per fear. You may drop your weapon if you so choose.

Warlord -
Immunity to Fear is now 1 resist fear.

Druid -
Emulate Totem still in works (claws are huge bonus)

Guild Bonuses -
Remove resist magic or make it level 6 (or see Nelkie's idea)
+10 damage becomes 5 (not plus) damage for next swing.

General -
NPC Armor becomes resources when they die (with exception of plot devices)
Empath Sleep / Fear, should they be Magic?
Using a weapon larger than a longsword, one may only use a buckler.
Not Everyone can use a bow
Stun / Root / Fear / Taunt - under discussion of who overrides who or if they stack
Armor percents always rounding down (possible min of 1)

Scout -
Flee possible change to - while fleeing all damage to the back is reduced to 0, immune to fear, root, stun, and taunt while fleeing

Root, Taunt and Fear -
Role-play the last effect that hits you. If you are feared and hit by a root, than you are rooted. This only applies to awake duration effects, aka fear, stun, taunt, and root.

Craftsman -
At fourth level a craftsman can make quality armor and shields.

Empath –
Possible make the calls "fear" or "sleep". This limits the empathy abilities to be resisted by 1 type of resist instead of 2. Change reduces the power of guild bonus of resist magic (can remain 5th level then).

Shields -
This is my idea on how shields should work
All shields add +1 to armor rating
Can not use any weapon larger than a long sword (49") or a hand crossbow with a large shield.
Can use a buckler with any weapon, bow, or cross bow.
Can use 2 shields at once, but 1 must be a buckler and 1 must be large shield, or 2 bucklers. Note: this will increase the armor category by 2
Large Shields are X”xX” in size
Bucklers are X”xX” in size
Shields can only be destroyed by non-vorpal attacks that equal or are greater than the shield value.
Shields can not be disarmed

Values
Buckler: 5
Large Shield wood and steel: 10
Quality shield: + 5
Warrior 2nd level: +5
Man at Arms level 4 + 5

A grand total of 25 which can block all booms expect for the 30 boom.

Note: there is no difference between metal of wood shields.

I do not like the idea of a shield not increasing one armor category for the use of a shield because there are many nasty breaks with out the extra armor class rules.

A couple more things we talked about

No skills require labs to use. If you have lab it will give you no bonus.

new 4th level guild ability: + 2 boom, stacks with other boom effects

Armor Locations. You must have more than 50% of the area covered to get any armor points. There is no partial armor points, aka, you will not get an amor point if you only have 1 leg in heavy armor. To get armor for legs you must have both lower and upper legs protected. To get armor for arms you must have both upper and lower arms protected. Note: the armor does not need to cover the entire arm or leg, but more than 50% of it. For chest you need to have the chest covered. For a helemt, it needs to cover you head.

Guild Bonus:
(*possible) Removal of Spend 3 life for lash attack

Warrior -
Skills useable with rage (still unanswered).

For the rage thing, currently weapon focus and armor perscents are skills, but used with rage. I've seen parry used many times while raging. Also if someone has a resist sleep fear and the guild power can they use the skill while raging?

To avoid some balance issues, parry (or any other life point skill besides vorpal or crush) shouldn't be useable while raging. Basically, this means any of those skills are 2 life points a use while raging. (ie. you drop the rage, parry, then re-rage).
