2008 Helmets

An additional physical location that can gain armor points is the head. This location is seperate in that it may not gain additional armor points from quality nor do they require any upkeep. At least 50% of the top of the head must be covered by a stiff material such as hard leather, chain, ABS plastic, or plate (such as a wide hard leather band) or the entire top of the head covered in a flexiable material (such as a soft leather or vinyl skull cap) to gain armor points. Note: a dew rag does not contitute a helmet. The amount of points gained is determined by the judging GM or marshal based on materials, aesthetics and weight but generally follows the below:

Covers at least top of head and is made of a flexiable material – max 1 Armor Point
Covers 50% of the top of head and is made of a stiff material – max 1 Armor Point
Covers top of the head and is made of a stiff material – max 1 Combat Reflexes
Covers top of the head and back of the neck and is made of a stiff material – max 1 Armor Point and 1 Life Point
Covers top of the head, back of the neck, and at least 50% of the face and is made of a stiff material – max 1 Combat Reflexes and 1 Life Point

Note: Armor Points gained from a helmet do count towards your total when calculating your armor category.
