Any tube foam will be better than the latex ones because of the edges those have. I still think those need more design work for edged weapon pesonally.
He used the black 3/8th wall thickness tube foam to make the sword, which is seen as unsafe by every LARP I have attended, unless of cource FH and WH uallows it for some crazy reason. Then its disallowed by all the ones I have been to but one.
I advised him to track down the tan or mint green 5/8th wall thickness tube foam, but did advize that stuff is getting hard to find.

Ahhh.. Okay. Yeah, I thought he was still using the pool noodle (though I did think it was the thinnest pool noodle I'd seen.) Still, if he checks his swings, it should be better than most latex weapons, especially if he didn't weight it, I would think. But, I'm not likely to be beaten with it. :p
