What we really need is the "id sell my left kidney to make this happen" option, cause thats the one id pick....

My only complaint is the "little kid" style of gun combat.

I highly suggest NERF weapons...

They're not going to hurt someone. They have decent range. and they have an awesome variety to choose from.

Add some spray paint and they don't look like day-glow kid toys.

So, Firefly/Serenity/anything Joss Whedon touches is amazing.

That being said, no.

Now, nerf weapons instead of "I point at you and shout your name and you take damage"?

That I could live with.

Totally shouldn't comment at the same time, Stark. It makes the one with the slower computer look dumb.

How about using airsoft guns instead? They are cheap, more realisitic. The only down side is people have to wear eye protection and they can sting alittle. But you would get the true gun combat feel. 10X better than nerf guns.

You can get single shot guns, full automatic weapons, shot guns, gernades, gernade launchers, etc.. You have the full array of modern weapons at your finger tips. They start at $7.00 for chock and shoot pistol, to $100 for a full automatic machine gun. They even have heavy weapons (Machine guns with a wild rate of fire) for $350-$500.

Yeah, the airsoft guns will give you the closest feel of a true gun battel with out acutal doing the real thing. :D

Combat will not be the central theme of the game. The rules are set up to be a semi-live combat/ Theater style LARP. Believe it or not, in most parts of the world LARP doesnt mean "Bashing stuff".

Nerf guns are not an option. They would, in my opinion, make the game even LESS realistic by slowing the pace of combat down to the speed of foam. In addition, they are not very accurate so I am guessing that one in about 25 shots at a person 20 feet away would be on target.

I had thought about airsoft guns. The cheap ones could be painted well and look pretty cool. They are fast, fairly accurate, and pretty cheap. The problem is safty glasses. Maybe we need to come up with some sort of mechanic to have "Safe" zones where gun combat is solved with the theater style combat system in the UK rules and "Live" zones where combat is resolved with airsoft.

That seems like it could be easy enough.

inside zones could be "ships" and you can't fire a weapon with out killing eveyone. hehehe

Yeah, I dont think it would be that hard to have safe and Live zones. The more research I do on airsoft, the more I think it is the solution. You can get a decent gun for under $20 and ammo for a weekend would cost you about $10. I think we would need to limit the FPS though to under 250.
