Not sure what I prefer. My current system is an impractical mix. Some abilities can be "cast" straight from the life-energy that most "normal" things possess in varying degrees, I think mechanically this is similar to life-points but not quite. To be a "wizard," one has...

Ah--to Brian Well 1 thing to remember: The "goodies" will only be good enough to encourage people to participate, but not good enough to be game changing. We will not accept a 5k donation then give him or her "Corban's sword". We might give out a boon for the next million events...

I watched that when someone posted it on facebook. It really depressed me for a reason I can't figure out.

Pardon me if I am missing something, but your post is dated the 8th of August? This thread was for an event last January?

^ I wanted to clarify from my above post that even if I were okay with letting wizards swap existing spells/recipes, I AM against adding in "different" abilities that are not in the book. I would be okay with swapping of existing spells in the rule book only, spell list declared at check-i...

Heidi, if you are saying the idea of the magic items makes them unbalanced then I take it you see their skills balanced the way they are and would vote for no change. Is this correct? Correct. I also don't think that alchemy and arcane need to regain their previous flexibility. Unless we're willing...

A couple of those comments got lost in translation, I will clarify: Levels - I meant that catchup levels needed to be paid or donated for in-season (Too hard to keep track of after that) and that the cap on level gain needed to be the same as what you would gain in a season had you made all the even...

To make things more mysterious and stuff we as gm's are suppose to be coming out with magic items that are only usable by an arcane or alchemist. Uh, why? This makes them "unbalanced" again...UNLESS you wanted to take out one spell per level and give main path arcanes an ability to buy th...

Like I said...I'm not 100% against the idea...it depends on the implementation, and yes, there are some aspects I am 100% against giving. Points that offer a way to a goal as a minor incentive...ok. A system that feels like you are donating to earn rewards, no. The point system needs to be low retur...

A slippery sloap to what? A slippery slope to what players think they are entitled to for donations. We did this our first year at WH and it led to SERIOUS bickering that led to several upset players and and at least one quitting. The problem? People made donations strictly for the sake of getting ...

I'm leery on in-game rewards being anything except Hero Points, although I could MAYBE be okay with one-shot non-reusable non-rechargeable things such as minor healing potions, but this is absolutely as far as I would be okay with. I would NOT be okay with magic items, commodities, weapons, armor or...

My system consists quite heavily of skill trees, although it sways between skill trees and pre-requisites, because I can't decide which makes things easier or more complicated.

Very good point you need to either have a descriptor or a call, but not both. and calls of course need to be limited to just 2 grouped together. You can call vorpal posion, but you cannot call vorpal magic posion..just my thought Just a side comment, but an assassin with a level in enchant weapon c...

If it's something added for the sake of slowing down calls, just make people call "1 Damage" or even "1 normal" or whatever. This is something I haven't really went into a lot in my personal ruleset. So far I've played with weapon proficiency and swings costings an un-interuptabl...
