not to be factoid man, but here goes. Chain offers superb protection against penetrating blows. In fact, it has been proven that a hauberk can withstand a small caliber handgun from a distance. This is the notion that started the modern concept of the bullet proof vest, a series of ball-bearings tha...

I've never anyone with out shoes. (i missed that apperently.)
That was way back in the CARPS days for me. I played two barefoot characters. One Orc (Grimble), and one Guthrie (Arlo Thompkins). Neither wore shoes.

I think that no one should argue that highly accurate in-period foot gear should definitely benefit a character politically. After all, that is what all those below you see, isn't it?

I think that footware should be mandatory. There is a definite safety issue here. No matter how much fun I had as Grimble running around barefoot, it friggin hurt. A character can feel free to be barefoot, but the player must be shoed.

Oddly, there has been no discussion of footwear. How does a real boot differ from a fake boot?

I think an arnor FAQ with examples is a good idea. Never a time when it was more needed than now.

I see your point about Press. And it could be read a couple of ways. The thing *soapbox alert* that I love about FH is the freedom to do with your character whatever you wish as long as the mechanics stay the same. For example, Press means mechanically the same thing whether your character is physic...

Although I have not played an Orc in FH, I did play one plenty in CARPS, so I do feel somewhat qualified to enter this conversation. I think something FEAR related (resistance, generate, ?) would be in order. I think although Press is a great thing to have when you need it. Admittedly, I am not the ...

A dream...

I had the weirdest, most F-ed up dream last night. You know the Rankin-Bass production of the animated "Hobbit"? There is a scene in it where (and I know this differs greatly from the novel) the Dwarves come and stay at Bilbo's house until he decides to go on the Quest to Smog's Lair. I ha...

The peanut trick was neat but all hollywood, I tried it on my plane trip last November and the chatty guy next to me just asked why I was flicking peanuts at him. The paper clip trick works though....
